There’s nothing like an old favorite

Pork, Rice, and Greens was on my very first weekly menu y'all. I dreamed of pork shoulder marinated like a vindaloo, with braised greens--I can only be who I am, and that is a person who will put braised greens literally everywhere--caramelized onions, and fluffy rice. It was a hit, and it's back. Find out what the hype is all about.

The salad is also pretty hype-worthy this week. Crisp Little Gem lettuce from Woodland Gardens, radishes, marinated mushrooms, black soybeans from Dayspring, toasted pepitas, and a creamy herb dressing punched up with gingery fermented kale stems. Is it ranch? No, but it IS the argument that there can be more than one perfect creamy white dressing. Can you buy a cup of it by itself? Absolutely

We're bringing back the lentil stew with chicken sausage too. This soup has everything: really great chicken sausage from Pine Street Market, protein and fiber from black beluga lentils, greens and herbs...it's one of those meals that leaves me ready to take on the world.

Finally, the sweet this week is sesamaretti again. Crisp-chewy little nuggets just made for afternoon coffee.

And hey, big news! I'm going to be at the Freedom Farmers Market Pop Up Tent Saturday May 8! I'll be slinging some weird salads, probably a hash, and if I've got room in a cooler, I'll bring some frozen soups and casseroles. Come through, say hi, and let me make some food for you live and in person! It's only the best Saturday market in town, except for Oakhurst every first and third Saturday, when I'm there.

Take care y'all, and have a great week.
